720p ( HD, 1280 x 720)

In the market, this screen resolution is almost outdated. It offers two times clearer, smoother, and lighter image than a standard screen. It is ideal for a regular desktop job in offices for data entry work.

But it also considers the video size i.e., gaming, news stations, or streaming services such as amazon prime, Netflix, etc. 720p resolution is of no use; instead, a higher resolution is needed. 

Still, it doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t play on your 720p resolution screen, but it wouldn’t be possible to give higher viewing performance.

Many customers are still pleased with the 720p displays, so they are still available on the market. There is a merit of purchasing these types of screens, and it is why they are available at a low price, and the only demerit it has is that there is no possibility to choose it because there are too many choices in the market.

Higher resolution displays offer 3 to 8 times better and smoother image quality than 720p screens.

1080 P (Full HD, 1920 x 1080)

Earlier, the digital cinema screens used horizontal screens to define the resolution. Still, TV’s used vertically to identify the resolution (going back to glass tube days).

1080p is also a vertical resolution. If we average the supply and demand of screens on the market, this (1080p screens) is the most widely used screen everywhere because it is not very costly, cheaper than other screens, and offers three times better picture quality than a 720p screen. It gives very sharp and bright videos and pictures.

There is a great deal of misunderstanding in people’s minds about why the 1080p resolution is called ‘1K,’ but above that, it’s not called 1K, regardless of its value, ‘2K’ as the same logic as UHD is called ‘4K.’ 

According to the facts, people usually don’t call it ‘1K’ or call it ‘2K.’ It’s mostly called Full HD or 1080p. This resolution is generally seen on widescreen TVs or displays with an aspect ratio of 16:9.

2160p (Ultra HD, 4K resolution with 3840 x 2160 pixels) 

Technically speaking, “4K” indicates a horizontal resolution of pixels comprising 4096 pixels. This resolution is set by DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives) because movies differ in aspect ratio. 

There is no vertical resolution defined, so yeah, we’re right. Ultra HD TVs are not 4K. However, it doesn’t matter because it’s better to call it 4K than 2160p. After all, the poll shows that people tend to call it 4K rather than 2160p or Ultra HD, even Google and Amazon, and most of the major TV firms call it 4K.

4K Ultra HD is one of the new screen and display resolution and carries 3840 x 2160 pixels where 3840 is the width of the screen, and 2160 is the height of the screen, and both of them multiply to give us 8294400 tiny coloured dots (pixels) which later combine to provide us with crystal clear images.

This screen is four times larger than 1080p. 4K is the best option for the consumer in the market. It’s pricey, but if you have extra money to spare, there’s no better choice on the market than 4K. 

If you’re a beginner, this is going to give you the best gaming experience. It will run any game without any issues, but the real challenge is when it gets closed.

Often when the game needs advanced settings, this screen may accommodate resolution. Still, it won’t produce faster frames per second, so you will need to install an additional graphics video card. Often traditional games that do not optimize for this resolution appear blurred on the screen. 

4K is still the new and best resolution on the market. And if you had the money for it, you could go for 4K; you won’t regret choosing it.

4320p (8K, 7680 x 4320) 

Yes, the most awaited resolution of the 8K screen has yet to come. Filled with 7680 x 4320 pixels, where 7680 is the screen’s width, and 4320 is the height of the screen and multiplies in turn to give us 33177600 pixels. And combining it provides us with the resolution that will come to market soon.

The price is likely to be on the upper end, and not everyone can afford it. 8K provides double with the horizontal resolution compared to 4K and offers colourful images. Simultaneously, even if you stand right in front of the 8K TV screen, you would not be able to see any single pixel cube. It is certainly going to deliver a very thrilling and improved experience.

There’s an infinite world of confounding resolution names that we can’t even recall at this moment. It doesn’t make us ignorant. The titles are very confusing, like FHD (1920 x 1080), WXGA, WUXGA (1920 x 1200). As there is a hell of a lot of resolutions and the advancements are taking place constantly. Honestly, there is no end to it, and we cannot buy new TV screens every month.

4K has gained traction in society for shorthand UHD TV and content. Therefore 2K is now being popular as a shorthand for 1080p. But you have to face this torment when you’re searching for a computer monitor or a cheap data projector.
